Pretty Packaging

I ventured down to my scrap room this afternoon and did some reorganizing. This seems to be what I do best with my scrapping supplies! Anyone who follows my blog knows by now that I don't exactly produce a large number of actual layouts!

I decided to remove some products from their original packaging in order to free up space and in the process I noticed that the back of Basic Grey embellishment packages are really, really nice. Each one features designs from the paper line they belong to and it seemed such a shame to just throw them in the recycling bin. So I got out some of my punches and made these...

2-inch circles:

1-inch circles and starbursts:

I even punched shapes using the part of the package that has the BG logo:

I think these will all be great for layering on layouts with other embellishments or for building up layered flowers.   I'm happy to have turned these beautiful packages into something useful however I can't help but wonder what other packaging I might have discarded in the past without realizing its potential!

Until next time...

Another Batch of Doilies...

My mini-vacation at Jen's place has come to an end.  We enjoyed two days together working on our embellished paper doilies while Rob, our "crop host" as we referred to him, took care of the pups and kept us fed too!  Who could ask for more than that?  I really appreciate having these little getaways and the break from my normal routine.

We expected to accomplish more than we did over the past two days but these last doilies are becoming more intricate and complicated and take a lot more time to complete than some of the earlier ones.

Here are the latest four additions to my project:

Every time Jen and I finish a doily we still marvel at how Christine Middlecamp was able to envision these little works of art and also at the fact that we've been able to re-create them.  It's not always easy figuring out how to mimic the original designs when we don't have the actual products that Christine used, but we always seem to manage to come up with a solution and the end results are so worth the effort that it takes to get there.

Until next time...

And the Winner Is...

Jen and I are together at her place today for our embellished doily sleepover - two full days of creating!  Yay!  But the first order of business for us this morning was to do the draw for our anniversary giveaway.

This time we decided to go high-tech and use a random number generator to determine the winner instead of using our usual "bowl and slips of paper" method.  ;-)  We assigned a number to each of the six eligible entrants and the random number that came up was "2".
So the lucky winner is Michelle.  Congratulations Michelle!  Just email your address to Jen or I and we'll get your package in the mail to you.  Hope you enjoy the prize and have fun creating with it.

Until next time...

We're beginning to see how precious the summer season is here in Edmonton compared to what summers were like back in Quebec.  When summer hit Quebec you knew it would settle in hot and humid for a good long while.  Weather here seems unpredictable and changes quickly.  We're past the midpoint now of July and it still doesn't quite feel like summer has arrived.  The mosquitoes are here in full force but the days are coolish and it seems rare to get a day where it doesn't cloud over and rain eventually.  We're not complaining though.  Quebec summers were starting to be unbearable for us with the high temps and humidity.

The weather mostly cooperated for our week of vacation and after our geocaching misadventures of Monday, we were able to get out and do a few things.

The Muttart Conservatory on Tuesday...

Fort Edmonton Park with Jen and Rob on Wednesday...

We're just slowly adapting to this new type of summer and embracing each good day that we have.

Until next time...

Anniversary Album Reveal & Giveaway-Day3

Here we are at the third and final day of the reveal of the 50th wedding anniversary album which Jen and I made for our parents.  We had so much fun together while working on this project and this was the beginning of our weekly scrapping get-togethers which we still always look forward to.

Once again, here's the prize pack which we'll be giving away shortly (North American residents only).  There's a little bit of everything included - paper, buttons, brads, alphas, diecuts, embellishments, tags and much more!  For complete details on how to enter the draw click here.

Here are the final four layouts that I created for the album along with the sketches used for inspiration.

Once we've printed photos from the celebration, my parents will be able to add a photo to this final page of their album.

That ends the reveal of the whole album.  Thanks to everyone who has followed along this far!  If you'd like to be entered into the draw for the giveaway just leave me a comment here and then hop over to Jen's blog to check out her final reveal and leave her a comment.

Anniversary Album Reveal & Giveaway-Day 1

My parents' 50th wedding anniversary was on July 15th and we celebrated as a family this past Saturday with a lovely meal at their favourite restaurant.  After dinner we went back to their apartment for cake and my mother had some of her friends come in to join us. was finally time to present the anniversary album which Jen and I put together so many months ago!  They were very appreciative of the work we put into it.

This means that Jen and I can now reveal the album, which we'll be doing over the next three days.  In addition, as a thank you to everyone who followed along as we worked on the album, we are having a giveaway of the following prize pack which contains paper, cardstock, alphas, buttons, brads, chipboard, diecuts, stickers, flowers, floss and a variety of embellishments.  Basically, it's everything that was leftover from the album and we feel that we've looked at and worked with these products enough so we'd like to pass on the remainder to someone else who will appreciate them. :-)

As much as we appreciate everyone who took interest in this project of ours, unfortunately this time we will have to limit the giveaway to North America only, due to the rather large size of the package.  Sorry. :-(

In order to be eligible to win this great prize all you have to do is leave a comment on my blog as well as on Jen's blog for each of the three days of the reveal.  That's a total of six comments and your name will go into the draw.  Simple!

So without further ado, here is the title page of the album which Jen and I worked on together, as well as the first four layouts that I did, along with all the sketches that were used as inspiration.

Remember, in order to be eligible for the giveaway just leave me a comment here and then hop on over to Jen's blog to check out her reveals and leave her a comment too!  The draw will take place around July 26th.  Good luck!

Until next time...
